ABSTRACT

Research in the past decade has brought out significant changes in the farmers’ attitude in pest management, which resulted in a partial to complete reduction in the use of toxic chemicals on their crops.  Several thousands of germplasms and improved varieties have been screened against insect pests with considerable success and have been incorporated into Integrated Pest Management (IPM) programs wherever appropriate This chapter is aimed to discuss the scope of viable technologies that can improve the IPM strategies further to make it more effective, eco-friendly and affordable.
