ABSTRACT

Hyacinth bean (Lablab purpureus) and soybean (Glycine max) are two important leguminous crops belonging to the same family (Fabaceae). However, the latter is well recognized for its industrial utilization while the former is known as an underutilized crop, mainly known and used in parts of Asia and Africa. Both legume crops have also been recognized for having biotic- and abiotic-resistant varieties. Therefore, this mini-review aims at pinpointing the current existing knowledge gaps within the narrow area of biotic and abiotic stress responses of the two legume crops.
