ABSTRACT

The aim of the paper is to present the role and application of machine-learning (ML) solutions in the area of contemporary business organisation management. The paper focuses mainly on the research problem of decision-making processes support and its improvement using basic features of machine-learning methods such as supervised, unsupervised, and semi-supervised learning. It also presents crucial benefits resulting from the application of the mentioned solutions in the process of business organisation management. The research part of the paper is concentrated on the analysis of five case studies conducted in March 2021 in the big banking institutions, defined as employing more than 250 staff. The banking industry was selected as a research sample because, in this area, ML/AI solutions are often applied. The research methodology is based on a qualitative approach where, in order to prepare case studies, eight open questions were stated. The respondents included managers of big banking institutions that apply ML/AI solutions on a daily basis. The research results showed that machine-learning solutions have a significant and positive effect on the acceleration of the decision-making process, as well as its efficacy and efficiency increase. Other advantages resulting from its implementation in the banking area are the improvement of business strategy creation, the increase of efficiency and quality of conducted analyses, and general improvement of managers work. There can also be observed the positive influence of big data on the quality of business decisions.
