ABSTRACT

There is a growing interest in occupational health and safety issues year by year. In order to ensure safe working conditions for employees, employers introduce appropriate management systems and use various health and safety indicators. One of the more interesting numerical indicators in Europe is the Corporate Health and Safety Performance Index (CHaSPI). It measures the level of OSH management and aims to simplify this assessment. The aim of the article is to present CHaSPI as a measure of the level of occupational health and safety management based on the ISO 45001 standard and to study CHaSPI in a selected company. The research methods used in the study include a critical analysis of the literature on the subject and logical inference. Moreover, a case study was used to achieve the research objective (questionnaire and in-depth interviews). The results of the research in a manufacturing company from the soft-plastic packaging industry confirm that the level of OHS management is at an average level. The reasons for this state of affairs can be found, among others, in the way of health and safety management. The use of the integrated occupational health and safety management indicator to assess the functioning of the enterprise in the area of occupational health and safety was considered correct. In the future, results of this research may be used in a decision support system (DSS) in the area of OHS management.
