ABSTRACT

This chapter is devoted to presenting the theoretical and practical application of the design-thinking (DT) approach in the implementation of IT projects. The use of DT in IT projects was studied and analyzed to improve the process of employee recruitment. Nowadays, one of the key ideas in the development of information systems is to adapt them to users' needs in connection with the development of an agile, remote, and mobile model of organization (Sołtysik-Piorunkiewicz, 2018). Therefore, the theoretical background of the work shows the actuality and importance of using the design-thinking approach in the context of building and implementing IT solutions (applications or systems and IT technology) because it changes the way project teams think and the approach in the way projects are implemented. In this chapter, the authors show the changes that are taking place in the way employees are recruited. As research methods, they propose a case study and an online anonymous survey (2019/2020). The case study made it possible to show what problems a large IT company faces during recruitment and in human resources management (cognitive purpose). The survey helped to identify the requirements for an application that develop a set of recommendations for the effective construction and implementation of applications supporting the remote recruitment process (utilitarian purpose). In conclusion, the research allowed to present the importance and possibilities of the design-thinking approach in identifying problems, expectations of users of these IT applications in the area of human resource management systems in an IT company.
