ABSTRACT
Cloud computing and the services offered by it are the top of the list of buzzwords in information technology (IT) industries. High availability and reliability of these services are the prime requirements of customers. The term reliability represents the consistently good quality and performance for our needs. It is one of the essentials in cloud computing to maintain customer satisfaction and confidence. The reliability requirements for all applications are not same. Reliability and availability have always been a challenge for any cloud service provider. Many researchers contributed solutions to address the reliability and availability problems, but there is no comprehensive theory or model to cover all aspects of reliability and availability for a datacenter. This chapter presents a comprehensive study to cover all aspects of cloud reliability and availability issues and analysis of the solutions provided by the researchers and proposed the methods to address these issues.
