ABSTRACT

For reliability in the cloud, it is vital for cloud providers to meet the service-level agreement (SLA) requirements. Service providers must ensure the utmost reliability with longer failure intervals. They are also prone to cyberattacks, the result of which is that the access control policies have been built as a part of the cloud infrastructure. Risk prediction is anticipating the occurrence of risks at various points to plan the recovery activities. This chapter offers an overview of the failure modes of cloud computing, reliability models that are designed to predict risks and reliability. Many state-of-the-art prediction architectures are custom deployed in the cloud environment. The threat models specific to risks in the cloud computing environment are explained briefly in this chapter. The various metrics used to quantize reliability and risk assessment are given special mention.
