ABSTRACT

In the world of developing technologies, blockchain has obtained much bigger attention, where lots and lots of applications based on Internet of Things (IoT), data management, cybersecurity, food science, financial service, healthcare centers, hospitals, and much more are developed based on blockchain. There are enormous amount of interest in using the blockchain applications since it provides a very secure and also safe data management in system which has been developed. In healthcare centers, the blockchain technology can be used for protecting the user details, handling user data collected from various sensors, share data securely, efficient diagnosis, and correct treatment can be given. The traditional healthcare equipment and practices are transforming into more reliable and efficient new technologies (for example, IoT lab sensors, biosensors are used for data collection) so using blockchain technology in the healthcare yields greater benefits. In the near future, the blockchain may be potential to help authentic, personalized, and secure healthcare systems by merging patient real-time health data and updating healthcare details to the patient. In this chapter, the existing and the latest new developments in blockchain-based healthcare systems implementation, challenges, applications, and future direction of the blockchain in healthcare sectors are also discussed.
