ABSTRACT

Taking into account that the road that runs along the coast of Tabasco is a watershed, the population that lives next to the mangrove swamp has been more affected than its counterpart that lives on the other side of the road, since salt levels are higher at the former site. This has led to the community capturing species that are not for direct consumption, but can be transformed for animal consumption. In this sense, the present investigation was developed with the objective of evaluating the production of vegetables for self-consumption using recyclable means. With only five species existing, by integrating others such as purple chives and leaf chives, this activity could be an alternative for small-scale local income.
