ABSTRACT

The dearth of detection methods for various life-threatening diseases is worrying, though there have been many fruitful and unfruitful attempts towards diagnosis of diseases. However, most of them focus on the sensing of one biomarker at a time. With the ever-growing number of diseases, this is not a viable option. The need of the hour is the availability of highly sensitive and selective multiplex-based detection of many biomarkers at the same time. Keeping this in view, this chapter delves into the various electrochemical techniques based on microfluidics platforms for simultaneous detection of multiple biomarkers. The chapter highlights the use of microfluidics as a biosensing platform, covering the configurations, advantages, applications in multiplexed biosensing.
