ABSTRACT

Due to increase in consumer demand, the use of plastics has become unavoidable and inevitable. However, countries should devise their plans and policies to circumvent the gaps in plastic waste management thereby reducing the burden on the environment. Creating wealth in the form of fuel, chemicals, and fertilizers from the waste has become a way of sustainable management of plastic wastes. Research intensification in these areas by finding appropriate green routes could further increase the diversity of product generation from the plastics discarded in the landfills, thereby leveraging the attainment of sustainable development goals (SDG) as prescribed by the United Nations.
