A chemical literacy competency is important for every chemistry teacher and student, to easily understand, process, and apply chemistry knowledge to improve the quality of life. It was found that the participants’ chemical literacy level was average, with a score of 59.38. The study also found that there were some misconceptions and difficulties in understanding chemistry concepts, so it was important for teachers to use a variety of teaching strategies, methods, and to integrate technology in the learning process. These findings can also be helpful in the process of developing assessments in order to develop chemical literacy and enhance teachers’ content knowledge, pedagogical content knowledge, and technology skills specifically in the education in the Industry 4.0 era.
