ABSTRACT

This study discusses the use and implementation of a sports coaching model based on youth as rural sports activists. The research design used is a modified research and development from Borg and Gall. The steps of research and development began with studying the results of the needs analysis, developing a model, conducting a series of trials and revising the findings during the trial, obtaining the required model. The data analysis used was the thematic analysis. The results of the study illustrate that the developed sports coaching model can be used and applied as one of the community’s participation as an effort to improve sports coaching in Tegal Regency, Indonesia. The results of the study can be recommended to the local government in determining the appropriate sports coaching policies in order to improve regional sports performance.
