ABSTRACT

This article describes library research that aims to provide ways to strengthen teacher competence in the era of the 4th Industrial Revolution. Disruptive technology and the 4th Industrial Revolution will be challenges to the Indonesian workforce. In the field of education, these have relevance for teacher competency. The level of teacher competency has a great influence on educational success. However, in the past few years, the Teacher Competency Test (UKG) scores were still below average. Though this competency is the basis on which a teacher carries out his or her duties and obligations, the UKG score has not improved. The results of this study found that there are several ways to improve teacher competency: (1) organizing the Teacher Professional Education (PPG) program; (2) conducting classroom action research; (3) improving teachers’ morale, ensuring the quality of teachers, and sending teachers to training workshops; (4) stipulating that teachers satisfy new requirements and giving them new roles derived from the teaching function; and (5) improving Educational Personnel Educational Institution (LPTK) quality.
