ABSTRACT

This study is based on the evidence that several schools implement a curriculum which is not in accordance with the students’ needs and conditions. In fact, the government (in the province and district/city) and the school are recommended to implement the officially prescribed curriculum in Indonesia in accordance with their needs and characteristics to plan, develop, implement, evaluate, and determine the books supporting the lessons. This study aims to obtain information about the official curriculum implemented in all areas in Indonesia in the context of decentralization. Based on the theoretical and empirical analysis, a relevant model for implementing the curriculum is offered. The model is based on the student’s needs, diversity of Indonesian regions, and the school.
