ABSTRACT
Over the past decades, there has been a growing body of literature that recognizes the importance of vocabulary in the learning of English as a foreign language for Indonesian students. Despite its vital role in the learning of English, evidence suggests that vocabulary has been neglected owing to inappropriate teaching methods, leading to a lack of students’ vocabulary development. In this case, online learning media has become one of the solutions for students to learn vocabulary individually. This article narrows down the focus to the use of a mobile learning application, namely Memrise, for vocabulary learning. It offers comprehensive vocabulary learning through reviewing in order to reinforce the students’ word retention. This article is expected to provide a recommendation on the use of Memrise as appropriate mobile language learning media for students to learn English, especially to expand their vocabulary.
