ABSTRACT

Self-access learning centers (SALCs) assist teachers to develop students’ autonomous learning. SALCs provide students with self-access facilities including materials that can help students in the learning process. The existence of SALCs helps students to develop their self-directed and self-regulated learning, which is part of autonomous learning. This study used library research as the methodology to explore the supporting theories and statements concerning the issue. This article reviews SALCs in relation to autonomous learning that is very well known and Industry 4.0 skills that are demanded in this era. Based on some reviews, the SALC emphasizes autonomous learning in which the students are responsible for their achievement in the learning process. It also helps the students to develop their Industry 4.0 skills such as knowledge of information and communications technology (ICT) and the know-how of ICT, since SALC supports the technology that helps the quality of the teaching and learning process.
