ABSTRACT

Sex education is necessary in early ages to overcome bad sexual behavior in children with autism. Luckily, the development of information and communication technology (ICT) opens a possibility of development and use of learning media appropriate to the characteristics of children with autism, especially the high-functioning autism. This study, therefore, aimed to explore a design of ICT-based learning media of sex education for children with high-functioning autism. The study employed a qualitative descriptive method, consisting of literature review and focus group discussion which involved teachers, doctors, psychologists, and experts relevant to autism. The results show four parts of the learning media development planning, namely: 1) materials for girls, 2) materials for boys, 3) materials on relationship with others, and 4) concepts of privacy. All the teaching materials are in visual and audio forms, delivered through an application on an Android-based tablet.
