ABSTRACT

The delivery of complex major infrastructure projects requires multi-partner collaborations (Chew, 2004). Each phase of a major infrastructure project life cycle presents multiple opportunities for collaborative practices, and in many cases, these practices have a meaningful impact on delivery times as well as costs and can improve project performance on other metrics (Chew, 2004). To achieve these benefits, infrastructure owners must be open to incorporate contractors’ input early in the process, select the right contractors, clearly articulate the potential incentives and then work collaboratively with those contractors to develop, apply and standardise best practices. This chapter will examine how to formulate a comprehensive multi-partner model for infrastructure systems delivery.
