ABSTRACT
Civilian unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), conjointly called drones, are extending quickly as new applications are rising to include the utilization of UAVs in our daily lives. On one hand, the convenience of providing bound services via drones is engaging. On the other hand, the mere operation of those mobile machines, which depends intensely on cyber capabilities, presents extraordinary dangers to individuals and properties. This article explains the main security, privacy and safety aspects related to UAVs and the uses of civilian drones in the national airspace. In particular, both the physical and cyber threats of UAV systems are discussed. Moreover, we identify the research challenges and possible future directions in the field of non-military drone security.
