Energy and environmental prosperity is imperative for sustainable development. In recent years, energy security has emerged as one of the prime concerns facing the global energy market. Energy security has become particularly crucial because of the uneven distribution of the fossil fuel resources on which the world heavily relies. The energy security concerns could become more intense in the future due to multiple risks associated with the global energy supply chain. The international environmental scene also faces an increasing degree of global-warming-related stresses. The entry reflects upon the major energy security challenges facing the world.
