ABSTRACT

The fashion and textile industry is known for its negative impacts on the environment which continues to grow at an exceptional rate. The importance of recycling and managing textiles longevity is identified as a solution to reduce waste, pollution, and emissions. Several studies indicate technology is the tool that allows efficient methods to extend the lifetime of textiles. Furthermore, support from the UK and EU governments is provided, where legislating the use of technology to assist a circular economy are put into place. The aim of this chapter is to identify the importance of what types of technology is used and where, and how legislation is and can continue to help lower negative impacts.
