ABSTRACT

Bioactive agents harvested from natural sources often provide adequate quantities of an interested product in a sustainable manner. The protection and sustainable utilization of natural resources has been the most important global problem of the 21st century. The primary source of Taxol is the bark of yew trees; however, the accumulated concentration of Taxol is very low. The evergrowing demand for Taxol greatly exceeds the supply through isolation from its natural source. Based on the protocol of Invitrogen’s Pichia Fermentation Process Guidelines, the general fed-batch HCDF process is implemented with some modifications. Biocatalysis is a process by which organic compounds are transformed from one form to another to synthesize compounds or materials by the biological method, if the chemical synthetic approaches are challenging. Mixing the reaction solution by magnetic stirring or impeller is often performed during biocatalysis process especially in large reaction volumes, which frequently leads to the formation of foam on the solution surface.
