ABSTRACT

Artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) are expected to show high performance in 5G networks. 5G and AI in the Internet of Things (IoT) will completely transform our lives in the coming years. The ubiquitous presence of the IoT is now revolutionizing our lives by interconnecting real-world objects like smart vehicles, appliances, infrastructures, street lights and people. The increase in the number of IoT devices connecting with people through the internet has created an extensive range of requirements. The advent of 5G is predicted to enhance IoT security, boost internet speeds, enhance cellular operations with much wider bandwidth and overcome the challenges faced by the existing 4G networks. AI extracts patterns from the data generated by IoT devices and advises the end devices accordingly. This chapter introduces the role of AI and ML in 5G-enabled IOT networks.
