ABSTRACT

Computer aided diagnosis is a game changer in the field of medical science. With the help of technology such as medical image processing and other physiological and biochemical techniques or the advancement in analytics and machine learning to provide assistance to medical practitioners, medical science is witnessing enhanced precision and accuracy. For making a decision more precise, machine learning and analytics assist better. By becoming the collaborative partner, machine learning has been playing a significant role and, thus, computer aided detection and diagnosis will find a wider and longer trajectory and will lead to smart healthcare, as it is predictive, proactive and preventative; however, it is imperative to invest in safety research to avoid malfunctions and hacking. Diagnosis and treatment have found the convenient way and the ease of treatment are already evident, but the alarming narratives such as data ownership and privacy invite policy intervention. There might be many possibilities of long-term negative consequences. For the sustainability of CAD, appropriate discussion and in-depth research are indicated. Nonetheless, the prospect of computer-aided medical diagnosis has already laid the foundation for, and will likely change, the way medicine is practiced.
