ABSTRACT

With the increasing diffusion of energy production systems in urban areas, the emerging role of prosumers can no longer be neglected. Prosumers participate to the energy market in order to gain independency from the main grid and obtain revenues from the energy trading process. Beyond production, however, prosumers contribute to the distribution and storage stages of the entire energy supply chain. This chapter aims at proposing a definition for energy prosumers and presents a brief overview of the main distribution configurations, modelling techniques, normative scenario, and performance evaluation of the decentralised networks of prosumers.
