ABSTRACT

In the chapter, techniques of visualization of sound field parameters used for the purpose of identification and evaluation of noise emission sources on machines installed in workplaces are characterized. The presented examples of relevant measuring systems include a multi-microphone measuring setup installed in acoustic chamber of the Central Institute for Labor Protection—National Research Institute in Warsaw, Poland. Both merits and flaws of various sound visualization techniques are described, together with examples of their application in industrial practice of noise measurements for the purpose of noise control. The main portion of the chapter is devoted to presentation of example visualizations based on measurements taken in both laboratory and industrial conditions.
