ABSTRACT

Automation has touched all the segments of the vehicle manufacturing industry, which has led to an era where our transportation system is getting smarter day by day. The automated driving system (ADS) is one of the parts of smart transportation. The focus of concern in automated driving vehicles is on the fast track now and the related technologies are evolving, which automatically redirected the vehicle manufacturing industry to prepare for encountering a broad range of cybercrimes with the automatic driving vehicles and legal issues associated with them. There are different automation levels in the vehicles, and the automation level decides the rules and regulations. This chapter focuses on the critical analysis of crimes associated with the automated driving vehicles to prioritize the interest of the occupant of the vehicle in situations with conflicts of interest. The researchers also present a perspective of legal issues related to development, testing, and implementation of automated, autonomous, and connected vehicles in India.
