ABSTRACT

As the world of work changes, OSH management changes accordingly, with the aim not only of preventing accidents at work and occupational diseases, but also of ensuring the well-being of workers and extending their working lives. This chapter addresses the OSH management challenges posed by changes in the world of work from corporate social responsibility perspective. The basic issues of corporate social responsibility to be considered in the socially responsible OSH management are presented in accordance with ISO 26000 “Guidelines for Social Responsibility”, and opportunities to incorporate these issues into the OHS management system implemented in accordance with ISO 45001 standard are discussed. Considering demographic changes, and in particular the ageing of the population, special attention is paid to issues related to maintaining the work ability of workers and integrating age management into socially responsible OSH management. The methods of evaluating the performance of socially responsible OSH management are also discussed, and a set of performance indicators that can be used for this purpose is provided.
