ABSTRACT

Many injectable filler products have become available to be used as volume replacement for age-associated atrophy and correction of wrinkles or folds. The popularity of temporary injectable fillers continues to grow as new filler substances enter the market and the indications for use expand. The diversity of injectable fillers offers the physician many options to tailor treatment to each individual's needs. Injectable fillers are safe, predictable, and effective when used by an experienced physician injector for cosmetic enhancement in a properly selected patient. Since there is a significant potential for adverse events, an understanding of how to prevent and treat adverse events is paramount. Physicians must keep abreast of advancements in injection techniques and indications as novel injectable filler products become available.
