ABSTRACT

Oxazoles belong to heterocyclic aromatics whose derivatives became increasingly important because of the presence of this heterocyclic ring in numerous pharmacologically important compounds, including those used as antiproliferatives and antibiotics. Oxazoles have not only attracted great interest due to their appearance as a subunit of various biologically active natural products but also because of their utilities as valuable precursors in many useful synthetic transformations. Peptides are strings of amino acids, which are the building blocks, that make up proteins in our body. They act with a unique mechanism of action and possess excellent pharmacological activity. Peptides are efficient precursors in designing of novel therapeutics, owing to their specificity, safety, tolerability intrinsic properties and their ability to provide expected results in humans. Among a wide array of biologically active peptides, naturally marine-originated oxazole-based oligopeptides possess unique structural features and a broad spectrum of potent bioproperties. Because of their complex nature and size variability, oxazole-based cyclopolypeptides (OBCPs) form a key platform in the drug discovery processes that may provide competent scaffolds for regulating allosteric binding sites and peptide-peptide interactions.
