ABSTRACT

This chapter presents some of the exact solutions of Navier-Stokes equations. Problems and solutions in this chapter include analyzing fluid films falling under gravity along a vertical flat plate and along a vertical circular rod, analyzing the flow on a porous plate moving at constant velocity through a stagnant fluid, analyzing the annular flow between a pipe and a wire moving at constant velocity along the pipe axis, solving for the flows between infinite parallel plates, in a circular pipe (Hagen-Poiseuille) flow, and in an annulus between concentric pipes, and finding the limiting cases of a fully developed laminar flow in an annulus between concentric pipes, Additional details of various concepts behind the problems and solutions presented in this chapter may be found in Fluid Mechanics: An Intermediate Approach by Bijay K.
