ABSTRACT

Green healthcare primarily focuses on incorporating eco-friendly practices in healthcare delivery to safeguard the environment while promoting and protecting public health. Healthcare facilities’ green attributes and sustainable practices provide numerous benefits in terms of clinical, economic, and environmental perspectives. This chapter details the main parameters of healthcare industries that incorporate sustainability into their businesses. Additionally, this study reviews and discusses green health strategy benefits that generally extend from a smaller local range to a much wider global range. The chapter also considers the importance of green buildings with regard to the principles of building information modeling (BIM) and energy modeling. A key factor in determining environmental performance is energy, especially in healthcare facilities because they use almost ten times more energy than office buildings. Finally, this chapter focuses on the energy modeling strategy in green healthcare.
