ABSTRACT

Green element focuses on minimizing environmental impact and pollution by creating more value with fewer resources. To effectively implement the Lean and Green (L&G) approach, an adaptive model is introduced into the L&G framework to ease implementation of L&G. The principles of LM mainly focus on identifying the value-added and non-value-added elements in an organisation. Global trade has increased cross border opportunities for many manufacturing companies around the world. The increase in global competition has driven the industry players to seek out alternative options to strive for higher competitiveness. The productivity improvement of an organisation can be done through value creation by reducing 7 wastes from an operation. Green manufacturing (GM) is a business strategy that focuses on profitability through proactive and reactive environmental friendly operation. GM is introduced in order to enhance and compensate the organisation performance in the environment aspect.
