ABSTRACT

Many manufacturing plants are encountering a major issue of removing the infinitesimal scraps, powder particles and excess materials for recycling. In addition, these industries are highly focused on collecting the infinitesimal scrap particles and powder particles and reducing waste through proper dust collecting systems. Generally, five types of scrap particle separators are employed to gather and recycle waste, namely electrostatic precipitators, unit collectors, fabric filters, wet scrubbers and inertial separators. Inertial separators were divided into three categories: cyclone separators, settling chambers and baffle chambers. Among these dust collectors, the cyclone separators require less maintenance, less fabrication and less operating cost compared to other type of collectors. Therefore, most industries use cyclone separators to collect waste for and recycling. In this chapter, the information on operation and applications for all types of dust collectors are given. In addition, details of the cyclone separator, its types, applications, standard models and its design are discussed.
