ABSTRACT
The exchange and integration of the information among the stakeholders of the construction sector have become important points that have to be taken into account by the different actors. The existence of a common data model for the exchange of information will decrease the use of resources used by the stakeholders, increasing their productivity. FIDE data model has established a common reference framework in the Spanish construction sector. It has been developed taking into account international standards, like IFC. For this reason, its scope is not only national but also international, since an easy mapping can transform a FIDE document in an IFC document. The possibility of mapping a FIDE file into IFC-based file allows taking advantage of the IFC compliant applications.
