ABSTRACT
The Architecture, Engineering & Construction/Facilities Management industry is slowly moving from paper and document based information exchange to IT supported processes. Since the industry involves many players it is a natural candidate for the widespread use of collaborative technologies. The reasons for the lack of use of advanced IT supported collaborative design are many. This paper examines some of the issues with the building model involved in supporting collaborative activity when using object model based design and construction systems.
