ABSTRACT
This paper describes experiences of using IFC as an information carrier in a pilot project at HITOS and tests the possibilities of changing/improving the construction process. IFC enables the investor to make an early and correct decision whether to invest as well as expectations regarding value for money in the project. IFC/IFD/IFG also enables continuous quality checking/clash detection through the design and construction phase. This essentially expresses how the knowledge acquired in projects and FM phase is transferred to a new similar project at design stage, i.e. reuse of information. The aim for the project is to contribute to understand how to make only a few new mistakes, and stop repeating deficiencies and failures as the industry has done for decades.
