ABSTRACT
The paper demonstrates a solution that allows reporting failures about construction products. The added value of the described prototype is the integration of various technologies that together provide a web enabled and grid supported distributed application. The development was based on the Industry Foundation Classes standard and on various grid related standards. The prototype demonstrated the feasibility of the integration of new information technologies and the applicability of virtual organization paradigm to the researched problem. The prototype successfully applied security mechanisms provided by the used technologies and therefore developed a reliable solution for the given problem. By collecting and storing specific metadata about the whole process, it creates a persistent knowledge base of provenance data.
