ABSTRACT

The AEC industry is conscious of the potentials arising from the usage of mobile computer systems to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of documentation and controlling processes. Discussions are no longer on whether or not to use a mobile computer solution, but rather, on how it should be used and implemented. One way to encourage and ease the usage of mobile computer systems in AEC is a more process-oriented usability and context appropriateness of mobile computer solutions. Therefore, context-sensitivity is defined as a crucial feature to be taken into account for further research. This paper discusses’ the concept and benefits of adaptive data collection forms for on site use. The concept provides means to describe forms in a flexible, comprehensive way and defines rules to customize the forms according to the user’s pReferences and context, which leads to more versatile forms that are easier to use by the users than currently used forms.
