ABSTRACT

In the paper a new approach for the IEQ assessment and for the evaluation of the HVAC system performance is proposed.

In fact, HVAC systems are becoming extremely complex systems where usual mechanical devices interact with sophisticated control strategies and with the building envelope: the correct operation of the whole system requires a correct coupling of each part would match the design performance.

The procedure is based on continuous medium/long term monitoring of environmental variables and makes use of a suitable performance index.

In this way each requirement will be coupled with a pre-fixed reliability (i.e. a tolerance interval coupled to the probability that the parameter would match such interval).

Based on this approach a suitable software has been developed, tested and applied to real configurations.

Details of the procedure, of the software tools and examples of application to an actual case will be described and analysed.
