ABSTRACT

In order to get a better understanding of the wind climate around a corner region a full-scale experiment is carried out on the main building of the Technische Universiteit Eindhoven. The results from full-scale test are presented together with CFD simulation results. In this CFD simulation four turbulence models (the standard k-ε (SKE), the realizable k-ε (RKE), the Renormalization Group k-ε (RNG) and the Reynolds stress model of Launder, Reece and Rodi (LRR)) are used. The results show that the RNG and the LRR model yield the best agreement between measurement and simulation for the comer region for flow perpendicular to the wider wall of the building. However, when comparing the computed pressure distribution with wind tunnel results of Geurts (1997) only the LRR shows good agreement.
