ABSTRACT

A method for moisture management in the building process has been applied in a number of building projects. Experience from application of the method in these projects will be presented in this paper. However, experience show that even though the moisture safety requirements were clearly specified and incorporated in the contract documents and discussed during negotiations, the designers and contractors did not possess procedures and aids in order to fulfil them. Another important experience is that the developers’ knowledge, interest and the time spent on monitoring are of considerable importance of how successful the moisture aspects are dealt with in the project. In the project where the developer engaged a moisture expert to monitor and discuss moisture related issues with designers and contractors the moisture requirements were fulfilled to a greater extent than in the other projects.
