ABSTRACT

With increasing in the strength of concrete and high strength reinforcements, the ultimate strengths of R/C beam will show the high load carrying capacities under flexure. However, a concrete in compression shows a brittle failure and R/C beam does not shows the high ultimate strength with increasing the strength of both concrete and reinforcements. In this paper, the experimental analyses of R/C beams with FRP cylinder that is placed in the compressive concrete in the beam and is used for constraining the lateral expansions of concrete are examined. In experiment, R/C beams are subjected to four points loading and the load-deflection behaviour is measured. The experimental results are compared with the previous results using the helical reinforcements.
