ABSTRACT

The boundary element method coupled with the finite element method is used to analyze the dynamic interaction of soil-pile and structure. The structure is a multi-degree lumped mass system with columns supported on a floating pile. The soil is assumed to be a visco-elastic half-space. The pile and the structure are modelled using the finite elements. A computer program using FORTRAN is developed for the purpose of this study. A parametric study is made for non-dimensional frequency and the number of masses of the superstructure. The result of the analysis yields conclusions that give an insight into the dynamic interaction behavior of the soil-pile-structure system.
