ABSTRACT
In this chapter we identify problems commonly occurring in masonry which are created by the action of water. Preventive and corrective measures which can be taken are discussed, and these techniques are illustrated with practical examples. It should be noted from the practical examples that very often the defect has arisen owing to a combination of several unfavourable events and therefore caution should be exercised in diagnosing defects to a single cause.
