ABSTRACT

Grouting is the term used throughout English-speaking countries for the introduction into a structure or into the ground of a material in liquid form which subsequently cures or sets into a durable solid or gel form. The technique has been used for the repair of masonry structures for over a century but remains a largely empirical art despite a much better understanding of the theoretical principles involved. By the skilled and experienced interpretation of geotechnical information and of observed performance, satisfactory results can be achieved from carefully devised and executed injection procedures.
