ABSTRACT
Equipment for the spraying of cement mortar was first developed in the early 1900s, since when sprayed concrete has been widely used for many new construction and repair applications, including the repair and strengthening of masonry structures. The process has been given many different names in English-speaking countries, such as gunite, shotcrete, pneumatic concrete etc., put the term sprayed concrete has now been adopted in the United Kingdom.
