ABSTRACT
The approach to the quality control of HDPE liners must revolve around three major aspects: liner raw material, liner product, and liner installation. The best way to exercise quality control in this area is to select a copolymer resin with proven properties in the area of stress crack failure categories. The area in the quality control sequence involves liner installation, Installation of flexible membrane liners requires seaming the sheets together to form leak free layers. Destructive testing of the seams is very important because it provides the only direct evaluation of seam strength and bonding efficiency. In addition to proper quality control of seams, liner installation should provide careful attention to the underlying soil material that comes in contact with the membrane. A secure and properly-working waste disposal facility depends on effective quality control all across the board. Comprehensive quality control of flexible membrane liners is thus very important.
