ABSTRACT

Geotextiles and geocomposites are among the most widely used groups of geosynthetics and they perform many important functions in various fields of civil engineering. The chapter describes the hydraulic behavior to leachate of several geotextiles and filtering geocomposites, which are representative of the most widely used types of synthetic material proposed for landfill drainage systems. The research was carried out by performing permittivity tests on different kinds of geotextiles and geocomposites commercially available in Italy. The materials used in the experiments include geotextiles, geocomposites, leachate and demineralized de-aerated water. Geotextiles and geocomposites are among the most widely used groups of geosynthetics and they perform many important functions in various fields of civil engineering. The research was carried out by performing permittivity tests on different kinds of geotextiles and geocomposites commercially available in Italy. The material for the test was prepared by cutting a geotextile foil in order to obtain circular specimens with a diameter of 68 mm.
